Building global social impact campaigns, philanthropic and executive communications programs.
Laureate Education
The Brief:
Laureate is a US company that owns and manages higher education institutions around the world, mostly in places where national governments recognize they need the private sector to help build university and online education systems.
First as a consultant — and then, as Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Public Affairs—I led “Here for Good,” a global campaign that identifies and supports young people who’ve created innovative programs that solve problems in their home countries. My work included managing Laureate’s commitments to the Clinton Global Initiative to partner with the International Youth Foundation to build, fund and lead social entrepreneurship programs. I developed annual reports that measured and documented the impact of Laureate’s CSR initiatives globally.
The “Here for Good” campaign included events in communities around the world, and led to local media coverage.
I led internal partners and external agencies on the production of executive communications material: thought leadership essays, infographics, newsletters, videos and social media content.
I was executive producer on a video project featuring Project Puno, a social enterprise founded by students at a Laureate university in Peru that helped alleviate poverty and housing issues in the Andes. I worked closely with Laureate’s Peruvian communications team and a film crew to produce the project. Project Puno’s leaders received scholarships and were placed in a Laureate-funded International Youth Foundation program, which helped fulfill the company’s commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative. Project Puno — and the broader “Here for Good” campaign—was also featured in local media.
As a consultant in 2013, I produced a video project featuring Patsy Ordonez, a graduate of a Laureate university in Mexico who created a business that provides health care services to women. Ordonez was placed in Laureate-funded International Youth Foundation program, which helped fulfill the company’s commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative.
